Mr. Fantastic

Jack Kirby

2 posts in one day is unheard of for me, but what is going on in my world (and my art) owes one hell of a lot to the late, great Jack Kirby. like Frank Frazetta, Jack was an early influence and inspiration. While I thoroughly enjoyed his portrayals of Thor, Doctor Doom, Galactus and the Silver Surfer, I really became a fan once he left Marvel to produce his own futuristic stories for DC. The New Gods and OMAC the One Man Army were so far ahead of their time that they still stand as unfulfilled futuristic prophecy. One core concept, everyone relying on a personalized, computer (Mother Box) has, for better or worse, come partially true. We all carry such devices in primitive forms. It will, however, be a very long time before we will see the complete realization of his fantastic visions.

On this, the anniversary of his passing, I would like to post the first installment of my tribute to the man who once nominated my work as “best in show”. I cannot express what an honor this was. I am not fit to tie Jack’s shoelace. But I can help to keep his legacy alive. Please join me in honoring Jack “King”Kirby! I owe him a debt I can never fully repay.
